Yesterday was the first round of the Super 5's, only one week after the TK tourney.
We were coming off our big win last weekend, and were feeling the pressure to do it all again.
We started the day shakey -- won our first games against Am teams, although in our first Pro matchup against Flashpoint -- we got all the way down the field, I was pretty sure we were right about to win the game, and then it just slipped from our grasp. I was at their head of the snake, came over the top with Nev right out in the open, shot at him and then my hopper jammed up, and I got bunkered. We were disappointed that we weren't going to have a flawless run like at TK, but I think we already knew that wasn't going to last forever.
Following the game, we got it together and got back into the rhythm of things I felt, beating both KAOS and Killswitch pretty convincingly.
Things rolled on pretty sweet, and then we had a lunch break...
I don't know what it was, but after lunch, it just wasn't the same team on the field. I don't know if it was the heat, hunger, or just lack of focus. We lost to Am teams Venom and Aurora -- and given there is no finals -- this robbed us of the chance at another first place. Thereafter, we had to really grind for every win subsequent to these games, even though they were all against Am teams.
Things went our way with Flashpoint though, who was ahead of us in points. They had a bit of bad luck and lost a couple of games, allowing us to secure 2nd place.
The final standings were...
1 Killswitch 1389
2 STK 1216
3 FLASHPOINT 1204
4 KAOS 964
I guess it's something for us to work on. I know we can play better. I think not having Stiffla hurt us too -- it would have allowed us to have a rotation; I think the rest would have helped us given the heat and the pace at which we were moving through the games, and also, just for that complete team feeling.
There's enough local tournies this year, I think we're going to have plenty of opportunity to make up for it.

TK Tourney Round 1
Well, it's a couple of days after the tournament, but I want to blog about our year as STK so I will write this up now.
This was our first tournament with our new roster -- we dropped Allan, and Zach left to play with Killswitch -- allowing us to pick up Griffin and Diesel (and Benji for 7man). Griffin and Diesel are great additions and pretty much give us the strongest lineup we've had.
This was the first TK event ever. The day went exceptionally smooth -- the reffing was great, the competition was great, and it costed us next to nothing to play.
The new roster lived up to my expectations. It allowed us to play more aggressively, like we all wanted. We were able to push Griffin really hard, he took it all like a trooper and excelled, mowing from the snake. Meanwhile, Diesel handled business on the dorito side in the smart, sneaky way he's known for.
Toughest game was against Menace Kids. They shut down snake side, eliminating Griff and I pretty early on, while pushing it really hard with Adam. Just Mason, Stiffla and Diesel were left, and I felt like they had a little extra experience on the remaining Menace Kids -- they were able to spread the field with the bodies we had left, and make moves at the right time. Especially Mason, he had a great game.
Following our win against Menace Kids, it was just a matter of staying focused for the rest of the games. We went on to win every game of the day and win the tournament.
1st: STK 938pts
2nd: Menace Kids 790pts
3rd: Wasp 632pts
4th: First & Only 632pts
Now this sunday coming, we have the Super 5's, where we have to do it all again.
